The
statue is made of bronze, in a standing position. Head’s statue wears a
cylindrical hat. The statue has four hands, two rear hands: one holding a
shanka (conch) symbolizes the origin of life, the other holding a padma (lotus)
(lost) symbolizes wisdom. Two fore hands: one holding a bhu (sphere) represents
the operation of the universe; the other hand is on the gada (mace) symbolizing
ego knowledge. The lower body wears dhoti. The statue was found in Tan Hoi -
Rach Gia.
Vishnu
- Conservation God is one of the three main Hindu gods (Shiva, Vishnu and
Brahma). With a benevolent nature, the god is the guardian of life, eliminating
the evil species so Vishnu is very popular worshiped by Funan residents. The
statue is balanced and harmoniously with high aesthetic value. It is a unique
work of Oc Eo culture and has been displayed in many famous museums in the
world.
The Vishnu statue is recognized as a
National Treasure (phase 1) under the Decision No. 1426/QD-TTg, Hanoi, October
1st, 2012 of the Prime Minister.
